Following the Local Government (LG) election, editorials and opinion pieces in the privately-owned Sinhala newspapers Mawbima and Aruna and privately-owned Tamil newspapers Virakesari and Thinakkural discussed the outcome of the election. While all four newspapers converged in their views on the performance of the ruling NPP party, they diverged on the drivers that led to it.
