Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa yesterday (29th) strictly rejected claims that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake was privately informed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) about a summons issued to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Jayatissa, responding to queries posed at the weekly post-cabinet media briefing, addressed concerns raised by Wickremesinghe himself during a media interaction on Monday (28th) in which Wickremesinghe questioned how President Dissanayake was allegedly aware of the Bribery Commission’s summons prior to it becoming public. Clarifying the timeline, the cabinet spokesperson pointed out that it was Wickremesinghe who had publicly disclosed on April 11 via social media that he had been summoned to appear at the Bribery Commission on April 17. Accordingly, Jayatissa added that the president had learnt of the summons through Wickremesinghe’s social media post.
